Specifying Colors by RGB values
As in HTML, colors for menus can be specified using their Red,Green and Blue components in hexadecimal notation. These values are written with the following syntax:
"RRGGBB"
RR is red value, GG the green value, and BB the blue value. The best way to go about getting color in this form is to use a graphics program to chose one and then look at it's red, green and blue components.
The Hexadecimal System
Instead of counting each digit from 0-9, as we do for normal decimal numbers, in hexadecimal, we could through the digits:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F
A through F represent the decimal values 10 through 15.
Converting Decimal to Hexadecimal
The red,green and blue components of a color, when given as normal decimal numbers, range from0 to 255. Each of these must be converted to a two-digit hex number. To do this you can use any scientificcalculator. Otherwise you might like to use an automatic color calculator like this: http://www.inquisitor.com/hex.html
